I'm working at two quilts at a time, but there aren't ready enough to be shown to the world.

While I quilt, my cat Mo is sleeping in my husbands quilt. His grandmother gave it to him. It's starting to fall apart, but he won't let me throw it away!!

A new (short!) project! This afternoon I decided to decorate a small notebook and my calendar.

Both have advertisements on there. I didn't like that, so I cut out some nice pictures from magazines and a few ribbons. I glued those pictures on the front of my notebook and on the calendar.

The results are pretty good! Glue all over my fingers, a pretty notebook on my desk and a nice calendar on my kitchen wall!

A lot of my t-shirts and jerseys from high school and college are still in my closet. I don't wear them anymore, but I can't trow them away because of all the good memories. I have been thinking about a t-shirt quilt for a while, but I didn't know how to make one. I don't like the look of standard t-shirt quilts much.

A few days ago I was searching on Internet and I found this picture on this blog 'Seam sew easy' by Sara.

My inspiration was born!! I started to cut up those shirts, get some fabrics from my stash and I'm about to iron interfacing to the back of those pieces. I'm so eager to continue. You will hear more about this in a few days!

One of the greatest and strangest cookbook I have, is 'Sophie's Sweet and Savory Loaves' by Sophie Dudemaine. Sophie is a French cook and in her book she describes easy recipes for loafes with all kinds of ingredients. In France they call them cakes. I had never heard of cakes with chorizo and tomato, asparagus and chanterelles or shrimp, but I love to try different recipes. So I did....

The loaf I would like to share with you is one of my favorites. It's with zucchini and feta cheese. It tasted great!

(This recipe comes from the website Bewithed Kitchen by Sally. More details can be found here. )

FETA CHEESE-ZUCCHINI LOAF
(adapted from Sophie’s recipe)

2 T olive oil
1 medium zucchini, cut in 1/3-in slices
3 large eggs
1 cup + 2 T all purpose flour, sifted
1 + 3/4 tsp baking powder
salt and black pepper to taste
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk, hot
1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
4 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
3 T cilantro leaves, minced

Heat the oven to 350F. Grease a loaf pan with butter or shortening.

Heat the olive oil in a skillet and saute the slices of zucchini until they get soft and golden on both sides. Remove from the pan, drain over paper towels to remove excess fat. Reserve.

Combine the eggs, flour, baking powder, 2 pinches of salt and pepper, and beat with an electric mixer until well combined. Add the hot milk and the oil, and beat until smooth. Add the Gruyere cheese, zucchini, feta, and cilantro, mixing well with a wooden spoon or spatula.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean. Transfer the pan to a rack, allow it to cool for 15 minutes, then remove the loaf from the pan. Serve warm or at room temperature.

My first quilt!

I never thought that I would pull it off. A quilting course showed me the way and now I'm addicted! Here it is my first quilt, all finished and ready to be shown to the world.

I didn't know how much fun it was to choose and buy fabric and to see how it all turns out together in the end.

I started some other projects. More about that another time... I'll show one picture of my new project!

A blog...I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while now and here it is! I hope that you enjoy reading about my quilting, cooking, reading, gardening adventures.

The name is inspired by a song called ‘Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, werk en bewonder’ (Sing, fight, cry, pray, smile, work and admire) by a Dutch singer named Ramses Shaffy. One of my favorite bands BLØF performed this song a few years ago.
