I didn't use canned pumpkin puree, because I can't find that in the stores here. I used this recipe to make my own.
Happy Fall! :)

Although I love all seasons, fall might be my favorite. These photos me and my husband made while walking in the woods. Don't you love those fall colors? Can you smell the scent of the forest in the fall? And see all those different mushrooms? It reminded me of a song by Laura Story, Indescribable. How indescribable is the Maker of all of this! Wow, that amazes me every time! From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea Creation's revealing Your majesty From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring Every creature unique in the song that it sings All exclaiming: Indescribable, uncontainable You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name You are amazing, God! Pinterest has some real interesting recipes. Today I tried out White vegetable lasagne 'cupcakes' by Emily on EmilyBites I didn't use a cupcake tray, but two mini cooking pots. It turned out great! Something that didn't turn out the way I expected is, was Crockpot honey sesame chicken by Nikki, Chef in training. The meat was tasty, but a bit hard. I didn't quite stick to the recipe, since I don't own a crock pot. I would like to give it another try, because it sounds so great! Check out her other recipes. They sound and look amazing! I also got a little bit of handquilting and binding done on my butterfly charity quilt. Most of the quilting was done with my machine, but the butterflies are handquilted in a different color, so it shows on the back. I only need to quilt two more butterflies and attach a label, then I can send it off to a local charity, (And start something new...wink) The front and the back. Drinking tea is my favorite waste of time! I love all sorts of tea. Black tea, mint tea,... I guess I like (almost) all kinds of tea. Another love of mine are pink flowers. Those two combined are the main reason for my beautiful tea cup collection. I have collected a few cups here and there, mainly in thrift stores. My husband can't stand to buy 'other people's junk', but I always seem to find a few treasures. Here is a picture of the tea cozy that I have made for my tea pot to keep it warm. The only things missing in this picture are the scones, muffins, sandwiches and what not! I found some great recipes on Pinterest and Flickr that I would love to give a try. I guess the only thing I need to do now is, invite girlfriends over and enjoy a good cup of tea with some sweets and other bites. Rachel, Stitched in Color, and Alice, Fresh Modern Fabric, are having a contest, where you pick 12 fabrics, according to the theme 'Softly against black' and make a mosaic. You can even enter up to 3 mosaics. Are you entering a mosaic too? I might even make two or three!
Since I love pinks and reds. This is what I came up with.
Today I tried something new! Instead of handquilting I used my machine. That was way faster! It wasn't easy at first. I used a series on YouTube. 4 Tutorials on Free Motion Quilting for beginners. I practiced a bit on a 'small-quilt-sandwich' before I started on the real quilt. And this is the result! It is not perfect, but I'm quite pleased with it. Now it only needs binding and I can send it off. I'm linking up today to Trying New Thing-Thursdays at Happyquiltingmelissa.blogspot.com.
These two fabrics say bag to me. A buttercup bag, maybe... I can't wait to start! But I have to keep telling myself that I have a few other things to finish up first. A lot has been going on here. I've been participating in a few swaps, worked on some old projects and tried not to start anything new! Here's my list of finishes: Swap: Little ticker tape/dresden quilt for the Little Quilt-Sew, Vote, Swap Group I received this cute little one back. Quilt top This quilt top is finally finished! It is a pattern by Camille Roskelley, Little Ones. I enlarged it a bit, so that it fits a Twin size bed. Butterfly charity quilt It felt great to make an improv quilt with scraps from the quilt top above! No pattern, just cutting and sewing!! I first finished the line with all the triangles. After that I used other scraps for the six blocks. Those six blocks were not big enough to make a little quilt, so I decided to use a neutral with it. That seemed a bit empty to me. The quilt feels girlie to me and what matches better with girlie than butterflies?! The butterflies are appliqued on it with raw edge applique. I guess that I'm very pleased with the result. Do I really have to give this baby away to charity? Yes, I hope that it is finished in time for the 100 quilts for kids. Another swap For the RATZ swap (Rapid And Tiny Zakka Swap) I made this needle book with a pincushion embroidery on the front. This gorgeous needle book came my way from Norway. Raw edge applique and crochet, I love it! Now I'm off to make a notebook cover for Super Swaps and I have to buy some batting for my charity quilt! But before I go, I'll link up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced!
A quick note from me. I don't have much time, because I fell in love. Not with a man, but with a machine! Yes, yes, yes, I bought a new sewing machine! A Janome 4120QD. I'm so excited and can't wait to start quilting with this machine, instead of handquilting. It will save me so much time. Now I'm off to try out all the options on this machine! |
